Fast Food?

Is it OKAY to Eat Out at Fast Food / Fast Casual Dining Options?

There are so many events going on this time of year. As much as you try to prepare, sometimes things come up…and that is OKAY!  With all the extra curricular activities going on, often times people forget about meal times until their stomachs remind them.

Is it okay to have fast food occasionally? My opinion…. absolutely. I would love for you to have a diet made up of whole foods MOST of the time, but the occasional balanced fast food/ fast casual meal when you are out and about is not the end of the world.

Here are my 5 Favorite Places to go when you are in a Bind and Need a Quick Bite!

  1. Chick-Fil-A: They have grilled chicken, great salads, and side options such as a fruit cup or kale mix. Be careful on that delicious Chick-Fil-A sauce. One packet has 140 calories!
  2. Zoe’s Kitchen:Just call it in ahead, grab, and go! I love Zoes Kitchen, because they have great quality protein options and delicious veggies. There is something about this restaurant that is so fresh and really makes me feel great.
  3. Starbucks:If you love breakfast then I have got great news for you. Starbucks has great options that they serve ALL day. They have multiple light options such as sous vide egg white bites, delicious wraps, and oatmeal! You really can’t go wrong with any of these options. Try to stay away from those sugary drinks. One grande pumpkin spice latte has 52 grams of sugar!
  4. Pei Wei: Make sure to look at the nutrition facts of the meal you are ordering. Pei Wei is a great option, because you can easily add more veggies, ask for light sauce or sauce on the side, and even order cauliflower rice!
  5.  Which Wich: This is a great option for kids and parents, especially if you have athletes. You can choose between bread, a lettuce wrap, a salad, and a spinach wrap. Then, pick a protein and add all the veggies you can think of. They really have something everyone in your family will enjoy!

Healthy Tip of the Week!

Make a list of places with options you can eat when you are out and about. It is better to have a list of go to healthy options rather than just choosing something spur of the moment.
