Healthy Habits to “Fall Back” On

Nicole Hinckley, RD, LD

It’s Time to Implement a New Healthy Habit!

What better time to implement some new healthy habits than with a time change? The weather is starting to cool off and Thanksgiving is right around the corner! Let’s choose a new healthy habit as we head into the holiday season!

Start Your Day off Right!

The way you start your morning can make or break your whole day! Making sure you have a balanced breakfast can help you achieve your goals! Don’t forget, pair a complex carb with a protein and healthy fat. Some ideas could be

  • Avocado toast with an egg
  • Oatmeal with peanut butter
  • Greek yogurt with fruit & granola

Physical Activity

Try and find some kind of activity you like & incorporate it into your daily routine. Doing something for yourself is SO important to your overall health! Some ideas could be:

  • Walk in the park
  • HIIT Work Out
  • Weight Training
  • Bike Ride
  • Yoga

Sleep

Getting into a consistent sleep pattern is imperative for your health. The average adult needs at least 6-8 hours of sleep every night. Making sure you get enough rest can help you reboot & be fresh for the next day. Maybe have a goal to get in bed an hour earlier each night!

Drink Enough Water

Water! Water! Water! Did you know our bodies are made up of 60% water? In order to flush out toxins and remain hydrated, we need to consume lots of water. If you aren’t a huge water fan try…

  • Adding some fresh fruit
  • Adding a sugar free flavored water packet
  • Switch to flavored water or sparkling water

Take a Break from Electrontics

Try to cut back on your phone time. 90% of people in the U.S. are looking at an electronic device an hour before they go to bed. Electronics give off artificial blue light which may make it difficult to fall asleep. Here are some tips to omit electronic use before bed:

  • Turn off electronics 30 mins before bed, and place across the room
  • Try reading a book instead
  • Adopt a new self care routine

Healthy Tip of the Week!

Pick one of these new healthy habits to adopt before the holidays!

Your success is made in your daily habits!
